this song remember's me of a brazilian punk band called "Garotos Podres", this power chord prog sounds so nicely, and the crazy guitar in the back, nice!

edit: in the half of the song, now it's just glorious xd

PapoFuradoPA responds:

I'm Brazilian too. The idea was really punk and I'm glad you liked it

I made a little review, i listened the entire album!

1 - Hi, Monolith!: DAMN, I LOVE ALBUM OPENERS SO MUCH. nothing else to say, incredbile!

2 - Flying Machine: this gives me a really good vibe, and for some reason, a lil bit of nostalgia, and remembers me of Lemon Demon on the Dinassourchestra album!

3 - The Golden Land: The drums on this track are really upbeat, so nice... / this one feels more epic, the 2nd part of the song sound awesome! / THIS SYNTH, WOOOOOOOOO

4 - When Grandma Attacks: this intro is gold / DAMN, I'M FEELING THIS ONE :fire: / this really give me a lot of Lemon Demon and Indie stuff vibes, on which i have love on

I think by far this is my fav track, so dynamic, fluid story on the lyrics, AND THAT OUTRO IT'S 10000/10

5 - Stuart Little: this one is the definition of upbeat ^-~ / damn, for some reason, every track is givin' me a ENORMOUS nostalgia of the past, i'm lovin' it

6 - The Ballad of Mr Engel: I LOVE WHEN ARTISTS DO THEIR BALLADS, IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING GREAT, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'M LOVINGGGGGGGGGG ITTTTTTT / DAMN, this harmony... how do you think on this? when i'm thinkin' on a chord progression, i always try to do things like that, but i can't xd / THIS CHROMATIC, OMNNNMMMMMMMMMM / this also remembers me a lot the style of Routt, he have one song at NG, called "Third Eye"

7 - Geomagnetism: the production in this track is really nice, SO MANY variation with the instruments / damn, this is REALLY well produced, all the paning, and varation...

8 - Shake It Up: this synth is a lil bit louder than i expected, but its okay lol / AYOOO, that chiptune vibe / the entire song is amazing, such a vibe broooooooo

9 - Eating Lightning: This feels like rain in an audio form, so cozy to listen, i would put this one at my fav's playist, you got me! / okay THIS ONE might be my new fav track xd

10- Your Old Car: i love album closers, it feels like the last chapter of the story, this entire album felt like a tale, i'm not that good at english, bcs i'm brazilian, but damn! this feels like the perfect concluison of The Monolith, great job you did here with the production!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I really enjoy this type of stuff that the newgrounds users do, like... it really feels something Indie, not saying only by the genre "indie", but the concept of it, of someone doing something just because they love it, and i feel the dedication you spent in this album, and i know someday you will grow, if you focus on this music career, you have a solid ground!

You also have a great voice in my opinion, all the tracks were really on the point!

9/10

DAMN! that sounds so realistic, the mixing is also godly, if you used some VST, which ones did you used?, i'm curious how this was made!

zTempest responds:

Everything is made with Kontakt libraries. I used Albion One for the Col Legno, Spiccato/Staccato and Woodwinds. The Violin is from Joshua Bell Violin and the Cello is Tina Guo Solo. The drums I use are Heavyocity Damage 2, the Vocals are Vocal Colors: Bronte.
On this piece I actually have 2 different piano libraries. One is the Una Corda from NI and the other is from Project Sam Orchestral Essentials 2. The guitar is Shreddage 3 Hydra.

The fact that you said it's your first song written in 5/4 it's very nice, since you are getting out of the comfort zone that is 4/4, when people challenge their selfs to do different stuff, it's always amazing the results, like this song!

I also loved the imense list of instruments you used for this track, usually when i try to compose something orchestral, i can't get out of Spitfire or Soundfonts xd, but you used way more than only 1 VST, thats amazing!

The way you mix orchestral music is something i even use for studies xd, i remember reading an article you write here on NG about mixing orchestral music, that saved me a lot, so i'm very thankful for all of the stuff you do here!

Well, so this is as 5/5 easy peasy, amazing bro!

BRO THIS TRACK IS FIRE, DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNN, i like this type of songs that escape from the traditional barriers that sometimes musical genres makes upon us, but this one is so greatly executed, very expressive, great job!!! this song sounds like a real adventure

Glassedhouse responds:
